Grace can be defined as “to do honor or credit to (someone or something) by one's presence.”  As we think about our life's journey let's examine ourselves with honesty.  Do the people we come in contact feel “graced” by our presence or wish thet we hadn't come in contact with them?  Let us look at Scripture to see how we should communicate with others.

Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.  Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.  And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.  Ephesian 4:29-31  ~ NKJV

This directive from scripture isn't talking about cursing necessarily.  It is instructing us to watch everything that comes out of our mouths.  Proverbs 18:21 tells us that words can bring death or life.  Hurtful words do a lot of damage to people and can leave them wounded and  bitter. We need to put a guard over our mouths. Our mouths can get us in trouble faster than anything else.  This is why we are instructed to be quick to listen and slow to speak. Ask the precious Holy Spirit today to help you to be watchful with your words.  Speak words of kindness and grace, and thus you will bring glory to God!
