But now you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus. Romans  6:22-23

Sin. It is pleasurable for a season but afterwards it leaves us more empty, feeling even worse about ourselves and the world around us. It has a way of gripping us. We quickly become a dog returning to its vomit over and over again. The only thing that can save us is Christ.

We are quick to receive salvation in him. Freedom from guilt and shame is incredible. Often we want to become free just so that we can feel better about ourselves.

The purpose of freedom found in the gospel is not for the purpose of self-empowerment. God gives us freedom so that we may know him, serve him, and serve those he loves.

Romans 6:22 puts it this way, “you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God.” The key to freedom, holiness, and eternal life is enslavement to Christ forever. Fortunately, Christ is the greatest, most compassionate, merciful master you could ever imagine. He loves you beyond your ability to comprehend it.

To be truly free is to walk in enslavement to Christ. Be free today.
